May 20th, 2009                      2:30 p.m.: Forseeing the selection of the “Big Show” for next year a challenge is set forth for the aircraft maintenance corps (AMC) of the Drama Department. They are to design a star ship based on a set of criteria set out in the script and stories by Barry B. Longyear.

June 3rd, 2009-                          10:00 p.m: During tour of MSND the AMC show Mr. Boyce preliminary designs for the “City of Baraboo”. The nose/bridge design looks similar to a Klingon vessel from the “Next Generation” 

June 6th, 2009 -                         Noon: Scripts for two shows are distributed to a reading committee of students from Midsummer Night’s Dream while they travel by train towards Churchill for the last show on the 2009 tour.

June 7th, 2009 –                                   2:00 p.m.: The reading committee meet in the dining car to discuss “Melody- A Musician’s Tale” and “BARABOO- the Last Show on Earth”,  Pros and Cons are  discussed for each show. A selection is made.

                                                          BARABOO- The Last Show on Earth   is selected.

                                                           4:00 p.m. designers have a quick meeting to discuss preliminary design ideas…scripts are handed out.

 

 

 

 

June 10th, 2009 –                                  Work begins on the City of Baraboo.

    

June 17th, 2009 –                                  1:00 p.m. - afternoon meeting of all designers and composers. Doctor Markley signs on as arranger, Jennifer Battershell is enthused and brings gymnasts along. Ms. Szoroz joins as costume mistress. Heather McIvor agrees to act as makeup coordinator.

June 20-July 17th, 2009 –garage sales yield parts for The City of Baraboo and specialized lighting equipment for the show.

July 18th, 2009-                                       Moving into a new House Boyce discovers a steel frame that will do for a lion taming stand. Also portable basketball net stands are slated for a low wire balancing act.     

August 7th, 2009 -                                   Chris of Laban Studios agrees to choreograph the fight scene at the end of act two.

August 10-13th, 2009 -                                    During trips to the dump 4 bicycles, a disappearing chamber for the magician and another stand for the Lion Taming act are retrieved. Recycling will be  main feature of the show, taking old and previously created props and settings and refitting them into a new setting so that they seem brand new.

August 24th, 2009-                                  Thompson City Council  verbally agree to support the show in any way they can. Several members express interest in auditioning for the play.

 

August 24- 28th , 2009 -  The Ship City of Baraboo gets a base paint job and some detailing begins. A display for the Forum display window is begun.

     

August 29th , 2009-                                 Thompson Chrysler agrees to join the circus by donating their paint booth and painters to paint the metal props.

September 2, 2009-                        Display in forum window completed.

 

   

 

 


November 19th...Congratulations To Anika, Brooklynn, Kyle and Curtis who joined clown alley tonight with a hypnotist act and a gymnastic juggling act. Combined they create a marvelous bullfight restaurant scene.


Nov. 20th Savanah and Taylor have joined the crew of "The City of Baraboo". What roles are yet to be decided. One may want to drive a clown car and the other wants to ride A Unicycle...what fun also the giant pocket watch is beginning to come along nicely.


Nov. 21st...Rory, Emily, Rachel, Ivy , Eric, Kassandra, Chloe, Ashley, Robert, and several others joined the circus today and the fire stick act and the Birds on a wire are really cool the Baraboo board express mail service is also set to take on the world and we have more clown acts as well...welcome all and we'll see what happens as the week progresses.


November 22 ...By the end of today there will be four...count them four books available dealing with the show... The Alphabet book, The Circus Wagon Colouring book, The Circus Wagon Cut Out Book and NOW...the book of schematics of the starship "City of Baraboo". That leaves us three pplete and then we need to distribute them all...stiull to come are costume,set and makeup design book, the raphic novel and of course the show program. November 24th...some excellent auditions ...and one incredibly great one...Ladies and Gentlemen may I present the harmonizing, idolizing tantalizing twins of mirth...those hairstylists supreme the galaxy's only fully functional two headed woman... I present NaNa. Also today all the metal props went to Thjompson Chrysler , McMunn and Yates will be sponsoring the Set Construction and yes the Dates in the Arena are confirmed...Set Up is on May 1st ...Opening Night is May 6. Alkso toiday we were donated a balance beam by the Cook family. This adds to the recent costume donation by Ms. Portey. Also once again our seamstress supreme Danielle Gaudreau has joined the show...you may remember her sewing from both the Cresta the Bear show  and Midsummer Night’s Dream last year. Two more dayus of auditions and then Cast list Friday.
