I attended THS for just over 5 months. I was born in Thompson in 1960. I went to public school at Deerwood before that. In 1971 we moved to Ontario and I haven't been back as yet. It was great to visit the website--brings back good memories. I'll visit this year finally and check out my roots.

Hi! My name is Mike Burton. Although I never attended RDPC, my older brother Rick did. He also attended the 40th Anniversary a few years ago & raved about it. Rick & I were also there the first week of October of this year for my father's (Bill) funeral. My father was a long time resident of Thompson, having moved there in '62. Anyway, Rick & an old friend of his "Sidney McKay" brought me for a tour of the town. Needless to say, it brought back some old memories when we visited the places were I used to live & play ("Ontario Apts", "303 Juniper Drive", "Beaver Cresent"). I lived in Thompson from about 1963 to 66 & was about 8 or 9 when I moved away. So, had I stayed I would have graduated in '74 or '75. I also attended 3 different public schools while I was there. No. 1, 2 & 3 Schools? There's only one friend's name that I remember exactly & that is Dale Hebert. He was my best friend when we lived in the Ontario Apts & probably the whole time I lived there. When I lived on Juniper, there was a little dark haired girl who lived across the street & we'd jump up & down on the hood of an old car (I think in her back yard) & sing the Beatles "She Loves You Yeah....." I think her first name was Debbie...?? I believe she also had a little play house in her back yard. Also across the street on Juniper was a reddish haired kid, Tim or Tom Wood(s)??? I may have chased him with a hammer one time when we were building a camp in my back yard. Sorry about that where ever you are. I think he also had a younger brother. Anyway I was just wondering if there's a website or some place on your site where former residents can get in touch with other former residents or existing residents to exchange stories or memories etc... Your time & help is greatly appreciated.
I can also be reached by e-mail at hurtinmike@hotmail.com.
Thx, Mike.

Nice to see some of you are alive and well.
I've been working with pre-school autistics and other special needs kids for the last 20[yikes!] years or so..
I've also done wilderness canoe tripping with europeans as clients for the last couple of years and race marathon canoes in a professional circuit here and in the states...I made it up to The Pas for the race during Indian Days every year but haven't been to Thompson since Randy Frieberg got married, and that was right after graduation...I often think I should pop up just to see who is still around. Feel free to contact me if you wish. I would be happy to hear from anyone.

Hi. Great to find this site, and see what people are up to these days. I'm still married to Warren, almost 25 years now. We have two kids, Matthew 10 and Kathryn 6. I went to U of M and did a Pharmacy degree shortly after high school, graduated in 1981. After a few years of that decided I hadn't had enough of the books, and started Med school, also at U of M. Currently practising in south Winnipeg. Drop me a line, I'd be happy to hear from you.

I remember fondly the years spent at R. D. Parker. When the new addition was built, we marched across the city, as grade 7's, and we were in awe of the open concept design and in joining all the "big kids" in highschool. That was in '69 and during the course of the early seventies, Thompson grew as did the school population. Those were good times, in fact sometimes they were a touch to good! I still play guitar, and I credit the early years in thompson for that...the days before cable tv! I now own a real estate marketing company in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and musically over the past decade I have recorded 3 albums of instrumental jazz guitar. Check out mp3.com under the jazz genre section and you will find some of my recordings. Or you can search under my name, or under Thunder Bay as a geographic location and you will find it there as well. I would love to hear any comments! I would love to hear from some of my old friends...including my mentor, Glenville Ansine. Receiving the school scholarship in '75 was a moment that gave me the confidence to pursue many of my dreams. Thank you R. D. Parker! |

What a great site. Good to see some familiar names and what we've gotten up to over the years.
I started in the travel industry in Thompson (remember Byron's Travel in the Plaza)and I am still booking flights and vacation packages almost 25 years later. Lots of changes in the industy over the years (computers come to mind, from handwritten tickets to E-tickets!?!)and never a dull moment. I moved from MB to BC in 1992 and work in a downtown Vancouver travel agency. Great city, I love living here. I'm married to a wonderful man, Francis, and have three step-kids. The oldest is 17 and graduating this year (2001), the others are 15 and 12.
Does anyone have a reason to visit the West Coast? Let me know and we'll see if we still recognize each other! Or drop a line and say hi.
Also, lets share this site with others from our class...we'll build it up and have our e-mailing list ready for a 30th Class Reunion!

What a lovely surprise to find this page! I have so many fond memories of my time in Thompson. My sister (Heather, Class of '77) and my brother (Murray, Class of '79) still live in Thompson, but I moved to Winnipeg for University and stayed until August of 2001. Since my parents (Glen and Jesmond) retired in 1988, I have not been to Thompson as often as I would like.
In August 2001, I followed the love of my life, Norman, to The Pas where he teaches High School History and Geography. His two sons, Fred and Ryan, keep me hopping as I adjust to step-parenting.
Following High School, I completed my B.A.(Policital Science and Economics) at the University of Winnipeg (that scholarship really helped!) I then did 2 years of Law School at the University of Manitoba, but decided I really didn't want to be a lawyer. I ended up as a stockbroker for 16 years, at Richardson Greenshields (now RBC Dominion Securities). I'm mostly a stay-at-home Mom since our move to The Pas, but I do some teaching (Securities Investment by distance education) for Assiniboine Community College in Brandon and sometimes substitute at the local schools.
Gordon Malcolm was asking about Mr. Seipp, the first band director. He retired about 20 years ago and moved to Plant City, Florida, but I think I heard that he had passed away about 5 years ago.
I have often reflected on the fact that the education I received at R.D.Parker from teachers who pushed me to excellence was invaluable in my later studies and my career. I remember my teachers fondly, especially Mr. Ansine, Mrs. Goble, Mr. Sapinsky, and Mr. Mackay. I would love to hear from any of my former classmates and teachers.
